UNFAIR HOOPS FOR ALT. VOTING SYSTEM?

Tue Jul 18, 2006 at 02:01:28 AM PDT

Hello Kossacks--

Many of you know I've been following the election integrity issue here on the DailyKos since the 2004 election.  And on many of these posts, I receive comments from many of you muggles (non-election integrity folks) who are incredulous that 80% of our voting counting is performed by just two companies.  And probably 99.9% of all vote systems in the United States are one of the following four:  Diebold, Sequoia, Hart-Intercivic and ES&S.

How on earth does that come to be?

BREAKING NEWS: LEON COUNTY DUMPS DIEBOLD

Tue Dec 13, 2005 at 04:30:30 PM PDT

It finally happened.  We all wondered when this day would come

Blackboxvoting.org finally had its day to prove that the Leon County, Florida, Diebold voting systems were hackable, and read what happened.

[Reprinted with permission from http://blackboxvoting.org ]

Due to security design issues and contractual non-performance, Leon
County supervisor of elections Ion Sancho told Black Box Voting that he
will never use Diebold in an election again. He has requested funds to
replace the Diebold system from the county. He will issue a formal
announcement to this effect shortly.

WILL CA SEND DIEBOLD PACKING BEFORE T-DAY?

Tue Nov 15, 2005 at 11:37:02 PM PDT

It's up to YOU!

They're back: Diebold voting systems again seeks California certification:  The public is invited to this important public hearing in Sacramento on November 21, 2005.

After an unusually long hiatus the Voting System Panel* (VSP) will brave its first voting system hearing since June 19th. This last hearing was a remarkable event with over 200 citizens voicing their opinions about Diebold--and with the exception of a couple of county clerks--opinions were unanimously negative for this company who has become the Enron of voting system manufacturers. Crime Report: Los Angeles Denies Public Access to Central Tabulator

Wed Nov 09, 2005 at 12:20:34 AM PDT

Norwalk, California--Tonight the public were denied their lawful access to view the central tabulation for the Los Angeles vote counts under Election Code 15204 [scroll down for the Code].  I was notified with urgent cell phone calls from the Norwalk central tabulation site about their denial of access, and I immediately called the Norwalk sheriff's department for assistance at (562) 863-8711. After all, the San Diego Police Department arrested Jim March of Blackboxvoting.org for violation of this same code on behalf of the County Clerk, I thought reciprocally we, the citizens, should have an equal right to protection from the sheriff's department.

CODE RED: Recommends 4 CA's SPECIAL ELECTION

Mon Oct 24, 2005 at 08:43:39 AM PDT

NEWS: We DO NOT and CANNOT know if our votes are counted as cast. [Read substantiation for this fact below below, along with some remedies Californians must exercise.]

Seeing Red:

Why is California about to allow an election that WILL turn its political landscape red by way of redistricting maps decided by Regan-era retired judges just ONE MONTH before the mandatory voter verified paper trails go into effect?  On January 1, 2006, the required paper trails will make it possible to audit for all to know whether their voting machines are accurate.

But. . . you say. . . at least the voting systems must first meet rigorous certification standards BEFORE use in our elections?

McPherson Gone Blackwell?

Sun Sep 11, 2005 at 12:24:52 PM PDT

MAKING PAPER TRAILS COUNT?

WHY SHOULD WE DO THAT?

It's distressing to read that our new Schwarzenegger appointed Secretary of State, Bruce McPherson, has decided to oppose Senator Debora Bowen's newest election integrity measure SB370, which would merely allow our paper trails to be counted. Both republicans and democrats of California's Senate and Assembly have approved this "no brainer" good government legislation with their nearly unanimous support.

NEW CA SOS McPHERSON: The Story of 3/16

Thu Mar 17, 2005 at 06:21:24 PM PDT

Hello CA Kossacks and Other Inquiring Minds:

Yesterday, 3/16/05, I went to our state capitol in Sacramento to attend the Senate confirmation hearing of Gov. Schwarzenegger's nominee Bruce McPherson who will likely be confirmed to replace our elected Secretary of State Kevin Shelley.

Our local DFA group had prepared questions for the senators to assist them in demanding baseline conditions of employment to replace an elected official: 1. Affirm VVPATs by 2006,  2. Retain VSPP staff and  3. Abstain of political partisanship.

A SWORD IN A SUFFIX

Sun Mar 06, 2005 at 12:46:03 PM PDT

The Orwellian nighmare foisted upon us by Buscho makes for exasperating discussions, to say the least.  I went to dinner with friends last night, and though these friends were nearly as radicalized as am I, it was exhausting to preface so many words, concepts and phrases with the opposition's convoluted language.

Thomas Jefferson said, "An informed democracy behaves responsibly." Yet how can we inform our fellow citizens if we feel like we've got a cup peanut butter in our mouth everytime we try to make clear our ideas while untwisting all the double-speak, e.g. Yes, I am patriotic--I'm just not for the Patriot Act,

Here's a solution that I'd like my fellow Kossacks to vet:

Dems Surrender to the Ken Star Treatment

Sat Feb 05, 2005 at 01:49:08 PM PDT

It's a Sad Day

Democrats helped to oust their own champion of voters rights, despite showing no significant wrongdoing in his recent audit hearing.

California's Secretary of State Kevin Shelley has just resigned, due to lack of funds for his legal defense to ward off his reward for standing up for us--the "Ken Star" treatment where no less than FIVE government entities were looking for skeletons.

Now our friend of Enron, who seeks to redistrict California, gets his prize--the control to choose the key player California elections--the Secretary of State.  [What's Next?  See below the fold]

RNC vs. Shelley & URGENT PETITION [updated]

Mon Jan 31, 2005 at 05:38:39 PM PDT

"The core of our American democracy is the right to vote. . . .  [W]e're encountering a pivotal moment in our democracy. . . ."  --Kevin Shelley, CA Sec. of State

D-day is approaching for our heroic leader of the mandatory paper trails and de-certifier of Diebold, and if we Democrats were to get a grade on our support of this hero, it would be a D.

I know, I know, you're afraid that he might not be clean, and we're the clean party, it's true.  But, we Democrats are quickly going the way of that dumb bird that used to start with a D, before it went extinct, and so we've got to get smart and strategic--right quick.
